“First year students in the School of Education have an opportunity to earn micro scholarships for the fall and spring semesters. The scholarships, which can total up to $250 per semester, reward students for accomplishing goals that will help them succeed in their education.”

Meta Steinfort Scholarship

“Students who are majoring in Spanish at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, either in the College of Letters & Science or in the School of Education, are eligible for the award. Students planning to pursue a professional career in teaching are particularly encouraged to apply. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required.”
Mariele Schirmer Scholarship in French or German

“This scholarship is awarded annually in the memory of Professor Mariele Schirmer, who taught both French and German at Wisconsin State College, one of UWM’s predecessor institutions. It is awarded to one French major and one German major every year. No additional materials are required beyond the UWM scholarship general application and the Letters & Science application which consists of your most recent transcript.”
Giovanni Carini Memorial Scholarship

“The Giovanni Carini Memorial Scholarship supports a UWM student accepted into an approved study abroad experience or virtual study abroad experience to Italy for Summer 2021 or Fall 2021. The value of this scholarship will be $1,250 for a virtual study abroad experience or $2,500 for travel to Italy, if travel restrictions are lifted and UWM policies permit travel in the Fall.
This opportunity is open to any UWM undergraduate student in any major with demonstrated academic merit and demonstrated financial need as shown on the FAFSA. Students graduating in May 2021 are not eligible.”
SPARK Early Literacy Program
Bi-Weekly Living Stipend
“SPARK is a partnership involving UWM, The Boys and Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee, Milwaukee Public Schools, and AmeriCorps. The program hires 50-60 students to provide reading instruction to students in grades K-3. Hours are flexible but require a minimum of 13 hours per week. It is a paid position where tutors receive a bi-weekly living stipend.”

“The prize is awarded based on academic achievement and demonstrated financial need to an undergraduate who is studying French. Applicants must have current FAFSA scores to be eligible and must be enrolled full-time for the 2021-22 school year. Priority will be given to students planning to become French teachers.”
Hilda Becher Modern Languages Scholarship

“The Department will award a scholarship of approximately $650 to a successful applicant who is a Spanish major or minor at UWM and who completes the UWM Summer Study Abroad Program in Madrid. Applicants must have a total University GPA of 3.0 or higher.”
Emmanuelle Leah Fetter Memorial Scholarship

“The scholarship is awarded based on academic achievement and demonstrated financial need to a UWM student who is going to participate in one of UWM’s study-abroad or exchange programs in French-speaking countries. Applicants must be French majors and have current FAFSA scores to be eligible. Additional materials are required beyond the UWM scholarship general application and the Letters & Science application.”
Julie’s Spirit Memorial Scholarship

“An enthusiastic giver and doer, Julie was also a dedicated Board member of Indian Summer Festivals. Julie valued education, and graduated with honors from UW-Milwaukee with a degree in teaching. This scholarship has been established to honor Julie's memory and to provide a means for her generosity, tenacity, and love of life to live on.”
Eligibility:
1. American Indian-Must submit proof of tribal enrollment or descent. Descent is defined as having one or more ancestor(s) who is/(are) tribally enrolled.
2. Must be a female admitted to and attending an institution of higher education.
3. Must be a resident of the State of Wisconsin.
4. Preference given to applicants who have had service to the Indian Community.
5. Applicants who have previously received a scholarship are eligible to apply.
6. Must be a full time student to be eligible for the $2000 scholarship.

“The Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies annually offers up to two scholarships in the amount of $500.00 to undergraduates pursuing academic work in Latin American and/or Caribbean studies. These scholarships may be used for UWM Study Abroad programs (such as the semester in Santiago, Chile), UWM winterim study tour courses (such as Mexico, Peru), for other study abroad opportunities that can be accepted for UWM credit (including Mexico, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic), or for research related travel.”

“Scholarships up to $2,500 will be awarded towards study abroad. Though preference will be given to UWM German majors, minors, and business German minors, other applicants will also be considered.”
