Waukesha

The School District of Waukesha, a suburb of Milwaukee, has a robust dual language program (that is over 40 years old!) and is one of the few districts in the state to offer the Seal of Biliteracy and Global Scholars. Their students represent over 48 languages!

Dual Language Immersion and Seal of Biliteracy

“…kids learn 100 percent of their content in Spanish in K4, moving to 90 percent Spanish in first grade, and so on -- until they reach fourth grade, when instruction in core subjects like math, science, social studies and language arts is taught 50-50 between English and Spanish.”

SDW offers both a one-way and two-way immersion program.

“The Dual Language Program is offered at North and South High School. Dual Language at the secondary level, grades 6-12, is defined by participation in daily Spanish Literacy and at least one content area in Spanish.”
